Risk Analyst
The Company:
Millennium Global Investments (www.millenniumglobal.com) is an independent currency investment management specialist with USD 26bn in group hedged assets. The Millennium Global group is comprised of both Millennium Global Investments and MillTechFX (www.milltechfx.com). MillTechFX provides execution and hedging services via its unique technology-driven FX-as-a-Service offering.
The Role:
The risk analyst will contribute to Millennium Global’s group-wide risk function through the development of its Market Risk, Portfolio Risk, Credit Risk and Operational Risk analysis capability. In addition, the risk analyst will provide quantitative support to key areas of research across the group’s activities. Key tasks will include:
- Monitoring operational risk and counterparty credit risk, with the capability to identify and escalate risk concerns to senior management while offering suggestions to enhance the risk control framework.
- Keeping abreast of relevant market events and drivers, highlighting identified market, portfolio and execution risks
- Collaborating with various departments to deliver ad hoc risk and quantitative analysis as needed.
- Work with various departments to understand processes and assess risks.
- Prepare reports and present findings to management and key stakeholders.
- Executing and overseeing the comprehensive risk assessment across the organisation.
- Compiling materials for the Risk Committee and recording minutes.
- Develop and implement risk management policies and procedures.
Performing independent oversight on systematic model releases
SKILLS:
In addition to strong quantitative skills (mathematics, statistics and computational) that are a pre-requisite, the position also requires:
- Proficiency in the practical application of quantitative risk management techniques (VaR, scenario analysis and stress testing)
- Sound judgment in assessing the strengths and weaknesses of modelling approaches
- Familiar with tools and methods to monitor and mitigate operation risks.
- Possess the intellectual curiosity to challenge the accepted wisdom
Experience with machine learning is a plus
REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate is likely to have:
- A good undergraduate degree in a relevant quantitative topic
- Prior experience in the development of quantitative risk models
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, the candidate should be able to explain technical concepts to people with less technical backgrounds
- Programming experience with Python preferred
A good understanding of basic FX instruments
