The opportunity

We have a unique opportunity for a Head of New Business Processing to join us on the exciting and rewarding path we are taking here at Castle Trust Bank. Having become a fully authorised bank in 2020, we pride ourselves in being a fintech challenger bank, providing specialist property mortgages, retail finance lending and savings accounts to a variety of customers.

Joining our specialist property lending division, you’ll manage our mortgage Underwriting and Completions teams, ensuring alignment with the Bank’s credit appetite and delivering exceptional customer service that bolsters our reputation and drives repeat business from our Broker network.

Holding a mandate of up to £5m, you’ll report to the credit committee for cases between £5m and £10m. Key responsibilities include embedding the Property division’s strategy, achieving service standards, overseeing pipeline management, liaising with Treasury on forecasts, managing key third-party relationships, and collaborating with the Commercial Director to ensure originations targets are achieved.

The role will be on a hybrid working arrangement, 3 days a week from our Basingstoke office (Monday and Wednesday compulsory, the other day optional) and the rest of the week from home.

What we are looking for in you…

What is important to us is that you have a proven track record in managing underwriting/completions (teams and processes) in a specialist (buy-to-let and/or bridging finance) mortgage lending environment. You will have a comprehensive understanding of the mortgage product lifecycle and customer journey, with the ability to thrive in a regulated lending environment. You will have demonstrable experience in working with specialist brokers within the property lending industry, with the ability to communicate credibly and build relationships effectively.

What is also important is that you are a team player, with a natural flair for collaboration and to see things through, with a keen eye for quality in customer experience and outcomes with the ability to make important decisions in a pressurised setting. You will have proven people management/leadership capability, fostering a culture of professional growth and development.

What’s in it for you…

As well as a competitive salary, we offer an annual performance related bonus (up to 15% of base salary) based on individual and company performance. In addition, a generous contributory pension scheme through Hargreaves Lansdown, life assurance, 28 days annual leave (plus bank holidays on top) with the option to buy/sell up to 5 additional days (terms apply). In addition, you will receive an extra day paid annual leave for Volunteering.

Wellbeing is also high on our agenda, and we offer private healthcare benefits through Bupa (single cover). In addition, all colleagues have free access to TELUS Health EAP to support their health and wellbeing. We also offer free eye test vouchers and discounted gym membership, and if that’s not enough, we also offer season ticket travel loans (if applicable).
