Job Summary Barings’ Global Data Management team is seeking an experienced data management professional to join their group and assist with the oversight and development of the control infrastructure for investment security data used by our investment and operational platforms.

The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of different asset classes, in particular extensive knowledge of fixed income securities, and understand the technical aspects of managing complex datasets.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coach and mentor team members to improve their understanding of the financial theory behind the asset data they are servicing.
  • Support the team leadership with developing and actioning training plans for the group.
  • Establish and own multiple relationships with senior data stakeholders; understand their business processes and data demands, translating the findings of engagement into better data management practices.
  • Assist with the creation of data quality rules on the investment security data and work with the development teams to align the rule framework to an enterprise view.
  • Help the group to hold data vendors accountable to the quality of fed data and work directly with the vendors to improve our service level.
  • Perform root cause analysis to discover the cause of data issues and track the data issues through to resolution.
  • Provide data expertise and business perspective to other Enterprise Data Group teams to help ensure the success of the entire organization.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years’ experience working in the financial industry, with asset data management exposure preferred.
  • Educated to degree level, quantitative and financial disciplines preferred (Math, Finance, Economics, Business).
  • Self-motivated with strong communication skills, written and verbal, to collaborate effectively across internal and external teams.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing accounting and financial review process improvements.
  • Basic SQL or database query language skills preferred.
  • Familiarity with Refinitiv, Bloomberg, Markit and Aladdin as data providers and platforms of primary use.
