Position: Senior Planning Consultant

Salary: Negotiable (depending experience)

Office Location: Irvine, Ayrshire/Hybrid

We are seeking a motivated, passionate individual who enjoys problem-solving and teamwork to be responsible for guiding our projects through the planning process. Working predominantly on renewable energy projects for Local, Major and National scales of development, the role will combine office and field work with various software packages to produce high-quality reports and graphics. We are seeking someone who wants to share their knowledge to mentor, support and upskill our existing team.

About the role :

Every one of our projects is different and we need people who can apply a range of problem-solving skills. This role will suit a talented, highly collaborative Planning Consultant who enjoys taking responsibility and leading projects. Working within a multi-disciplinary team, the role will require an excellent eye for detail in reviewing and approving submissions of EIA and non-EIA planning applications.

We are looking for an individual who can prepare quotations/proposals, manage sub-contractors and deliver projects for our clients. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical, report-writing and project management skills, and have a proven ability to run and contribute to medium to large-scale complex projects whilst producing high-quality results. You will be expected to work to tight deadlines and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary design teams both verbally and in writing. With Collaboration being a Core Value, you’ll need to have excellent teamwork and delegation skills.

YOUR SKILLSET AND QUALIFICATIONS

We’ll need you to have

  • A relevant degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning, or similar

  • 5+ years professional experience.

  • Experience of preparing and editing documents for submission to planning authorities.

  • Project delivery, office and site experience.

  • Proven experience of working on projects at all development stages, the capability to run complex projects and delivery of high-quality results.

  • Experience of the UK planning systems.

  • Experience of working in an interdisciplinary environment.

  • Strong organisational skills.

  • Good verbal presentation skills with the ability to communicate clearly.

  • Ability to write clear, concise and professional reports.

  • Strong IT skills, with experience of using all MS office applications.

  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office.

  • Excellent communication skills and English language skills; and

  • Full, clean driving licence.

We’d like you to have

  • Chartered member status of the Royal Town Planning Institute (or working towards).

  • Experience with renewable energy projects.
