About NewOrbit Space

NewOrbit is engineering the lowest orbiting satellites on Earth to rapidly advance global connectivity and insight.

Our engineering teams are working on one of the toughest challenges there is: Building satellites that breathe air and fly at only 200 km altitude - a third of conventional satellites. This isn’t for everyone as working conditions can be hard and we are looking only for the highest performing engineers, who excel in solving never-before-solved challenges.

The hard work pays off though, through our satellites humanity can be provided with better satellite imagery, direct-to-phone internet, and a self-cleaning orbit without any space debris.

Note that this is not a regular 9-5 job. You are expected to have the ability to work extended hours on-site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical Systems Design: Assist in the design and development of mechanical components and systems for satellite applications, focusing on structural integrity, thermal management, and reliability
  • Propulsion System Integration: Support the integration of mechanical systems within air-breathing propulsion technology, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance
  • Testing and Validation: Collaborate on the testing and validation of mechanical systems, analyzing performance data to ensure compliance with mission requirements
  • Skill Development: Enhance your technical and professional skills through hands-on experience, mentoring, and training sessions
  • Project Contribution: Apply your knowledge to solve complex challenges, contribute to innovative technology, and play a role in the successful deployment of our satellite missions

Fundamental Requirements

  • Educational Background: Top grades with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
  • Mechanical Engineering Background: Experience in university projects involving mechanical systems, an interest in space engineering, and a desire to contribute to the future of satellite technology
  • Hands-On Experience: Practical experience in mechanical prototyping, lab work, and testing is essential

Why NewOrbit

  • Pioneering Space Technology: Join NewOrbit and contribute to the development and launch of groundbreaking technology that will redefine satellite operations in ultra-low Earth orbits
  • Impact and Ownership: Experience a rare level of involvement in the full lifecycle of satellite technology development, with opportunities to influence mission-critical systems
  • Equity and Competitive Salary: NewOrbit offers competitive salaries and equity, rewarding dedication and hard work with a tangible stake in the company’s success

About NewOrbit Space

NewOrbit Space is a Series A funded company that develops satellites for Ultra Low Earth Orbits (<200km). As we operate 3-4 times lower than conventional satellites we see the world better and building satellites at a fraction of the cost of the existing satellites.
