The Role:
Reporting to the Head of Commercial Pricing, the Senior Estimator’s role is service the international markets with prices for metal ceilings and architectural metalwork in an accurate and timely manner. Maximising profit within every opportunity, taking into account the commercial strengths and weaknesses. Accurate costing and recording useful data for the business.
The Person:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role with demonstrable experience of carrying out take offs from architects’ drawings.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes
- Prior experience of managing complex bids independently
- Experience in risk assessment
- Demonstrated experience of building and implementing creative processes
- Demonstrates a collaborative approach to work
- Ability to fiercely prioritise and can multitask effectively
- Exceptional communication skills; can build relationships with ease
- Demonstrated the ability to respectfully influence stakeholders at all levels
- Respects the views of others - seeking out different opinions where possible
Responsibilities:
- Carry out material take offs from architects’ drawings to produce schedules of components.
- Support and be a commercial point of contact for the international business functions with technical and market pricing knowledge.
- Produce detailed and accurate estimates suitable for each market.
- Effectively manage workload and business priorities.
- Triage enquiries and ensure all relevant information has been presented.
- Understand manufacturing methods and costs.
- Train and mentor junior members of staff where necessary.
