Overview:
There is an opportunity for an experienced Academic or Curriculum Manager to join IBCM to ensure the continued delivery of high quality education. We are seeking experienced Assessors/Internal Verifiers for BTEC Pearson Business courses. You must have experience of Academic Management / Quality Management in line with awarding body requirements such as Pearson or OfSted.

Essential:

  • Experience of delivering BTEC Pearson qualifications, ideally at level 4 and level 5.

Desirable:

  • Hold a recognised Assessor award (D32/33, A1, CAVA, or TAQA).
  • Hold a recognised Teaching qualification at Level 3 or above (e.g., PTLLS, AET).

Key Duties:

Academic Quality Manager is responsible for supporting the realisation of the College’s academic vision through the development, operation and review of the College’s quality assurance and enhancement processes.

The post holder will help the college develop risk-based institutional and subject review processes that demonstrates to all stakeholders, the quality of the student experience and the standards that students are expected to meet.

Main duties and responsibilities Quality Assurance and Enhancement

  • To advise the Senior Management Team (SMT) on issues relating to the regulation and assessment of teaching quality, student progression and graduate destinations;
  • To lead on any external reviews of academic quality and standards;
  • To lead the strategic review of college-wide policies and provision relating to quality and standards, to include proposing terms of reference, conducting research and agreeing outcomes;
  • To design and implement a model of continuous academic review across all of the College’s provision that enables the college to promptly identify and address challenges to the student experience, student progression and graduate outcomes.
  • To ensure that the college meets the expectations for the UK Quality Code for Higher Education;
  • To work with the IBCM Students to fully engage students in the process of academic review and renewal;
  • To manage the periodic review of the academic quality and standards of the College’s taught provision;
  • To manage the approval processes for new academic developments: to include liaising with senior academic staff on requirements, acting as secretary to validation
  • panels, and writing summary reports for Academic Standards Committee and IBCM Governing Body;
  • To manage the annual review of taught student provision, to include setting and monitoring key performance indicators;
  • To act at secretary to Academic Board, to include developing the agenda in consultation with the Chair, managing the committee action plan and commissioning papers;
  • To act at secretary to the Governing Body, to include developing the agenda in consultation with the Chair, managing the committee action plan and commissioning papers;
  • To chair the Quality Network, a regular forum for discussions relating to academic quality and standards that is attended by School General Managers and key stakeholders in professional services;
  • To manage the bi-annual student experience surveys: to include designing, promoting and reporting on the results of the survey;
  • To oversee a network of external examiners and internal moderators to each academic programme;
  • To ensure that the College meets Office for Students (OfS) requirements on the timeliness, accuracy and accessibility of information on the nature of the student learning experience, to include oversight of all Programme Specifications and Handbooks;
  • To be a member of the Quality Assurance Agency’s Quality Enhancement Network (QEN).

Other

  • To Ensure all student data is maintained and information and guidance relating to academic quality and standards is met on the College Intranet;
  • To ensure that the College complies with all OFS data requirements ; in a timely and accurate manner
  • To ensure that student Loan data is maintained and updated in a timely fashion and communicated to OFS and other bodies as required and in a timely and accurate fashion
  • To advise the Principal on the membership of academic committees
  • To contribute to the administration of major events within the College
  • Any other reasonable duties commensurate with this post.

Person Specification Essential

  • Minimum 2 years experience of effectively managing quality assurance processes in FURTHER and or HIGHER EDUCATION - this is ESSENTIAL
  • Significant experience of developing, implementing and reviewing policies relating to academic quality and standards;
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills; including the ability to research, evaluate and present complex management data;
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write concisely, accurately and with purpose;
  • Proven ability to work effectively with key stakeholders, including senior managers, academic staff, professional staff and students;
  • Proven ability to effectively manage a challenging workload with conflicting priorities and tight deadlines;
  • An enthusiastic and flexible approach to work;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the UK Quality Code
  • Educated to at least first-degree level.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in postgraduate education
  • Experience of engaging students in academic review
  • Experience of working effectively with partner institutions

Additional information

  • Salary working 2.5 days per week (20 hours per week): £ 20,000 - £ 22,500
  • 25 days annual leave plus extended breaks at Christmas and Easter (pro-rata)
  • Location: Manchester
