Investec Bank is seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to lead and support architecture activities that guide the development of our applications in the Transactional Banking area. You will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing solutions that align with our business goals, value streams, and architectural standards. Your expertise will ensure that our technology solutions are not only innovative but also robust and aligned with our strategic objectives.

The ideal candidate will have experience with solutions in Transactional Banking such as cards payments solutions or core transactional banking. This is desirable and not a pre-requisite. A background in Financial services would also be beneficial.

What you will be doing

• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with designers, business analysts, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and technical constraints.
• Technical Leadership: Provide guidance to engineering teams during the implementation phase, ensuring adherence to architectural standards and best practices.
• Problem-Solving: Translate business requirements into technical solutions with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Communication: Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Integration Patterns: Apply your knowledge of integration patterns across a diverse ecosystem of on-premises applications, COTS, and SaaS systems.
• Cloud Architecture: Architect applications for the cloud, with a focus on Azure (experience with Azure is beneficial).
• Knowledge Sharing: Enable others through knowledge sharing, pairing, presentations, and mentoring.
• Technical Expertise: Demonstrate working knowledge of REST API, Event Driven Architecture, SaaS, CQRS, DDD, Contract-based testing, and Containerization.
• Quality Attributes: Understand and ensure the quality attributes of systems (non-functional requirements).
• Holistic Design: Design holistic solutions, with experience in client-facing solutions being beneficial.

What we are looking for

• Experience: Proven experience as a Solutions Architect or similar role, with a track record of designing and implementing solutions in Financial Services
• Transactional Banking experience is essential, ideally with experience designing solutions that service Corporate clients’ transactional banking needs
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in cloud architecture, particularly Azure, and familiarity with REST API, Event Driven Architecture, SaaS, CQRS, DDD, Contract-based testing, and Containerization.
• Communication: Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
• Leadership: Ability to provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Educational Background: A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
