JOB ROLE: SEN Teacher

LOCATION: Taunton and West Hatch

SALARY: £27,456 - £43,014* (This rate is effective as of 1st April - if you start prior to this date, your hourly rate will be £26,209 - £41,773 and will be automatically uplifted on 1st April)

We are seeking an enthusiastic committed professional to join us as a SEN Teacher

The successful candidate will:

  • Plan and teach lessons, working with small groups and individual students
  • Prepare teaching materials, take registers and write reports
  • Help students develop confidence, independence and encourage them to learn
  • Manage behaviour, mark work and talk to parents and carers about their children’s progress

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Specialism in teaching PSHE is a requirement of this post
  • A committed and passionate view of students with SEND
  • At least two years’ experience minimum of working in a SEND environment or similar unit/provision
  • QTS/QTLS is advantageous

Somerset Progressive School prides itself on being very unique. Both sites are set in rural locations on the outskirts of Taunton. Each site offers an attractive and stimulating learning environment, combining specialised teaching facilities with local resources. There is a high staff to pupil ratio with most receiving 1:1 tuition or working in small groups. Pupils are encouraged to work alongside others and co-operatively in pairs and small groups, as the development of social skills and independent work strategies are vital.
