Location: Amesbury, Wiltshire

About Us:

Birchall Tea is a UK-based tea packing business serving wholesale, retail, and food service sectors. We are looking for a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at our Tea Packing Factory in Amesbury.

Role Overview:

As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Reactive and preventative maintenance on production machinery

• Mechanical line changeovers

• Managing and developing the workshop, critical spares, and engineering stores

• Delivering planned preventative maintenance programs

• Ensuring compliance with safety and hygiene standards

• General site maintenance

You will collaborate with production teams and OEMs to enhance machinery efficiency and minimize downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs

• Oversee mechanical machine changeovers

• Manage and work with engineering/OEM contractors

• Develop and deliver PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) programs

• Ensure machinery complies with food safety and regulatory standards

• Support the installation of new equipment and provide technical training

• Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules and equipment performance

• General facilities and utilities maintenance

Requirements:

• Minimum NVQ4/BTEC L4 in Mechanical Engineering or HNC/HND qualified

• Time-served at apprentice level

• Experience in food or beverage manufacturing (preferred)

• Knowledge of BRC Food Safety V9 standard (preferred)

• Basic understanding of electrical systems, motors, sensors, and PLCs (desirable)

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

• Willingness to be flexible with working hours

Preferred Experience:

• Experience in the Tea Packing or food industry

• Knowledge of IMA C51 and IMA C24E tea bag machines
