Job Title: Production Section Leader

Function: Operations

Reports to: Production Manager

Location: Elland, UK

Role Overview

The Production Section Leader will manage operational processes within a specific section of the production line, ensuring the timely delivery of products in accordance with safety, quality, cost, delivery, and people (SQCDP) management standards. The role focuses on driving continuous improvement in SQCDP performance, while also inspiring the team to uphold Habasit values. These values are central to delivering high value to customers by consistently producing and delivering high-quality products on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Management:

Lead and manage the team by providing instructions, communicating clearly, and ensuring compliance with standards. Manage team performance through coaching, mentoring, and performance reviews. Foster the development of a multiskilled, flexible team. Monitor attendance/performance/conduct and other defined standards

  • Manufacturing and Assembly:

Be an active, productive member in the manufacturing and assembly of conveyor belting production within the designated section/s.

  • Health and Safety Compliance:

Ensure team members comply with Health and Safety rules and procedures. Support the completion of Risk Assessments, report accidents following company procedures, and identify near misses with preventative actions.

  • Quality Management:

Manage quality processes, striving to achieve zero defects. Collaborate with process development leaders to develop action plans for defect reduction. Record and analyze data to identify deficiencies, facilitating continuous improvement. Use problem-solving techniques to address root causes and prevent recurrence.

  • On-Time Delivery:

Ensure timely product delivery by adhering to the published schedule. Plan and coordinate resources within the designated area and communicate with other teams to align activities.

  • Skills Development:

Support the development of people skills within the section by collaborating with the process development team to standardize work processes. Conduct process observations and provide additional support to operatives when needed, aiming to enhance skills and flexibility across operations.

  • Continuous Improvement (CIP):

Identify opportunities for improvement in SQCDP performance. Use continuous improvement processes to define and implement sustainable changes that positively impact performance.

  • Reporting:

Prepare and maintain essential production reports, including schedule adherence, non-conformance reports, accident reports, and other documentation necessary for the effective management of day-to-day operations.

Other Duties as Assigned: You may be required to perform other duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Strong people management skills, with the ability to set and uphold high standards, motivate, and develop an engaged team.

  • Skilled in manufacturing and assembly, with a focus on embedding best practices.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with a deep understanding of production processes.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.

. Ideally experienced in conveyor belting manufacturing process

  • Proficiency in time management, organizational, and multitasking abilities.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration both within the team and cross-functionally.

  • IT literate with experience using relevant software systems.
