The areas in IT we are looking for Apprentices are in Service Desk, Cybersecurity and GRC (Governance Risk & Compliance). The apprentices will gain hands-on experience and knowledge in a professional IT setting, contributing to their development and understanding of the field.
The IT Apprentice - Service Desk Analyst will support the IT department in the maintenance and operation of the company’s computing needs. The role involves assisting in the management of hardware, software, and network systems.
Role Requirements will include some of (depending on which role is taken):
- Support continual improvement of the Information Security Management System
- Assist in monitoring and analysing security alerts and incidents
- Support the implementation and maintenance of security tools and technologies
- Contribute to compliance monitoring and reporting activities.
- Participate in internal and external audits, and/or vulnerability assessments and penetration testing activities
- Assist in business continuity planning and disaster recovery exercises, helping to develop and update security policies and procedures
- Support data management and privacy initiatives
- Assist in developing understanding of the requirements of management systems.
- Provide technical support to staff and assist in troubleshooting issues to maintain business operations.
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT hardware and software.
- Support the IT team in the implementation of new technology solutions.
- Participate in the documentation of IT processes and user guides.
- Collaborate with team members on IT projects and initiatives.
- Adhere to information security best practices and data protection regulations
- Understand Castle Water’s Risk Management Framework and assist with Castle Water’s management of risk
- You will be expected to carry out any other duties that may reasonably be required in line with your main duties
- Engage in learning and development opportunities to enhance IT skills and knowledge.
- Engage in continuous knowledge development regarding sector’s rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques, and performance standards.
- Attend off-the-job training and complete coursework for SVQ qualification.
- Working with 3rd party stakeholders administrating Vendor Supplier Questionnaires
Key Skills & Experience
- Eager to develop soft skills to enhance career prospects including communication and influencing skills
- Demonstrates a keen enthusiasm and genuine curiosity for IT, technology, and cybersecurity.
- Basic understanding of computer systems, mobile devices, and other tech products.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with colleagues.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to company policies and procedures.
