Salary Range

£33,778 - £43,891 per annum

What is the purpose of this job?

This role will undertake, as directed, technical testing on multiple projects and/or enhancements and any other required test and technical support.

This role will liaise with cross-functional internal teams as well as internal technical teams, Suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders.

Additionally, this role will help support the day-to-day functioning and regular health checks of the Test Environment, test assets and infrastructure. The successful candidate will have proven experience of technical problem solving, configuration documentation and related ITIL processes.

Reporting to the DTS Senior Test Lead, the Test Analyst will provide support for:

  •      Technical testing/problem solving and defect management.
    
  •      Day to day support in ensuring operational readiness of RDG Test Facility. 
    
  •      Delivery teams implementing new initiatives or enhancements; and
    
  •      in response to service desk tickets raised by customers, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
    

What can I expect to do in this job?

This isn’t an exhaustive list, but things you can expect to lead and be involved with include:

  • This role will report to the DTS Test Lead within a team of technical, delivery and testing professionals.

  • Support production of test cases across the lifecycle of a project and/or enhancements and BAU, for all aspects of Testing and/or as required.

  • Support collation of test estimation for projects and track.

  • Manage tasks as directed within test team for timely delivery and quality of test outputs.

  • Develop and maintain a good testing/technical knowledge of the relevant systems (online and/or backend), scope and objectives.

  • Engage where required with vendors/suppliers and work collaboratively to ensure the quality of releases and testing.

  • Be proficient in Risk based approach to testing and deliverables.

  • Maintain/develop quality multiple test cases within the test team.

  • Ensure constant understanding of test and project priorities.

  • Providing support across the wider technical and DTS team for new initiatives, enhancements and problem/incident resolution as required.

  • Provide joint testing support as required to RDG Accreditation team.

  • Compliance with internal and industry standard procedures for analysing, testing, and documenting technical infrastructure operations and associated changes.

  • Knowledge and experience of available Automation test tools, and programming languages: Java Script and Python.

  • Support maintenance of an operational ready test facility and manage issues and work with applicable suppliers.

  • Building strong relationships with peers internally and from suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders

  • Day to day management of own activities and prioritise accordingly.

  • Aptitude for complex IT systems and messaging.

  • Keen understanding of system analysis.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of the team to achieve project deliverables & timescales.

Requirements

  • Test background, with practical experience of large and complex deliveries.

  • Experience of working in an agile manner, and prioritising own priorities.

  • Detailed knowledge of transportation Smart Ticketing (preferably trains), ITSO standards, RSPS3002 standard and associated technical understanding is very desirable.

  • Knowledge of JIRA and Test Rail applications desirable.

  • Knowledge of PAYG/EmV and Mobile Solutions is desirable.

  • Knowledge and understanding of rail systems.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience of Automation testing, Java scripts and Python.

  • Strong detailed analysis and problem-solving skills with a strong emphasis on detail and quality of output.

  • Analytical with the ability to resolves complex testing and IT problems.

  • A detailed understanding of ITIL processes will also be beneficial alongside industry standard experience of technical development processes and associated technical configuration design, test and deploy procedures would be desirable.

  • This role will require a disciplined approach to system configuration change and documentation.

  • PC literate with good working knowledge of MS Office suite of applications and MS Project and Visio.
