Job Title: Academic Quality Manager
Reports to: Principal
Contract: Full-time/Part-time
Overview: The Academic Quality Manager will provide targeted support to the academic operations of IBCM. This role, reporting to the Principal, will primarily focus on quality assurance and enhancement, ensuring academic standards are met, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across the college.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Assurance (QA):
- Coordinate and support the internal review process for all academic programs, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks and internal policies.
- Oversee the annual monitoring and evaluation of academic programs, including reviewing assessment outcomes, student feedback, and progression data to identify areas for improvement.
- Assist in the preparation for external inspections and audits, providing required documentation, evidence, and reports in line with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Lead or support internal and external moderation processes to ensure consistency and fairness in grading and assessment.
- Lead/Support development and review of policies and quality frameworks
- Quality Enhancement (QE):
- Develop and implement initiatives that enhance teaching and learning, with a focus on continuous improvement in curriculum delivery and student engagement for level 4/5 programs.
- Work closely with academic staff to foster a culture of academic excellence, providing guidance and support on best practices for assessment design, feedback, and student support.
- Collaborate with academic teams to implement actions arising from annual reviews, external examiner reports, and student feedback to continuously improve academic offerings.
- Accreditation and Compliance:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant external accreditation standards and regulatory requirements, such as those set by the Office for Students (OfS) and other relevant bodies.
- Assist in the preparation of documentation and evidence for accreditation reviews, ensuring that all academic processes align with required standards.
- Support the ongoing development and implementation of academic policies and procedures, ensuring they are aligned with sector standards and regulatory changes.
- Assessment and Feedback Management:
- Coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of assessment strategies, ensuring alignment with program learning outcomes and quality standards.
- Oversee the timely and accurate completion of assessment procedures, including marking, feedback, and progression, ensuring alignment with institutional policies and academic regulations.
- Support academic staff in the effective use of formative and summative assessments, helping to maintain high standards of feedback and ensuring that feedback is constructive and timely.
- Reporting and Analysis:
- Analyse academic performance data and other key performance indicators to inform institutional decision-making, identifying trends and areas for development.
- Prepare reports for senior management and external stakeholders on QA and QE initiatives, including progress on action plans and impact assessments.
- Academic Policy Development and Review:
- Lead or contribute to the development and review of academic policies related to quality assurance and enhancement, ensuring that they reflect sector best practices and regulatory changes.
- Ensure that academic policies are consistently applied and understood across the institution, providing guidance to staff on their implementation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- To degree level.
- Proven experience in quality assurance and enhancement within a further or higher education setting, with exposure to level 4/5 programs and working with external awarding bodies.
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and quality assurance processes, including knowledge of UK higher education policy and standards.
- Experience in managing accreditation processes and preparing for external audits.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with academic staff and senior management.
