Role Purpose
The Multi-Skilled Engineer is a critical role within our organization, responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of a variety of systems and equipment across multiple disciplines.
This position combines expertise in mechanical, electrical, and electronic engineering to provide comprehensive support for our manufacturing, production, and facility operations. The ideal candidate will possess a diverse skill set, strong problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement
Reports to - Engineering Manager
Key Accountabilities
- Scheduling maintenance of all machinery, including servicing, repairs, and inspections to a high standard, adhering to record keeping and hygienic hand back to production.
- Operate and maintain service plant - boilers, chilled water, air, effluent treatment.
- Involvement with new design and upgrades, installation, and movements of existing machines.
- Involvement in loss reduction and efficiency improvement activities with production operators.
- Follow GMP and adopt a “clean as you go culture”.
- Always comply with Meadow policies and procedures.
- Conduct risk assessment prior to any maintenance work and ensure conclusions are implemented prior to start of work to remove hazards
- Work hands-on within all areas of the factory on Reactive Maintenance, Preventative Maintenance, Root cause Analysis and ongoing reliability of all processing and packing plant. Maximise up-time of plant
Essential Requirements
- Experience of working to retailer-standard engineering standards to support food safety and operator safety.
- Multi skilled & great team working ethic.
- Recognised engineering accreditation electrical with optional mechanical qualification (recognised apprenticeship, ONC or City and Guilds or 17th/18th edition IEE. Where there are training needs identified, we can assess at interview and remedy post probation potentially.
- Background of working in a UK retailer or BRCGS accredited food factory preferred but will consider non-food background if able to follow good food hygiene principles.
- Confident in both working alone, alongside skilled operators and within wider engineering team.
- Be able to communicate at all levels making time to listen and value opinions of others.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and writing skills plus computer literate
Understand the need for accurate record keeping for quality, food safety and personal safety
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £47,000.00-£54,000.00 per year
