Job Title: Mattress and Headboard Product Developer

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Product Developer to lead the design, development, and innovation of mattresses and headboards. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of materials, ergonomics, and market trends to create high-quality, functional, and aesthetically appealing sleep products. This role involves collaborating with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to bring new products from concept to market while ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:Product Development & Innovation

• Research and analyze industry trends, customer needs, and emerging technologies in mattress and headboard design.
• Develop innovative mattress constructions, including foam, spring, and hybrid technologies, to enhance comfort and durability.
• Design and prototype headboards with a focus on style, functionality, and materials.
• Collaborate with material suppliers to source high-quality fabrics, foams, wood, and other components.

Technical & Manufacturing Coordination

• Work closely with engineers, designers, and production teams to develop prototypes and ensure manufacturability.
• Create detailed product specifications, technical drawings, and production guidelines.
• Conduct product testing for comfort, durability, and compliance with industry standards (fire resistance, safety, etc.).
• Identify and resolve any manufacturing challenges to optimize cost, quality, and efficiency.

Project Management & Collaboration

• Oversee product lifecycle from concept to final production, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
• Work with marketing and sales teams to support product positioning, branding, and market launch strategies.
• Communicate with vendors and suppliers to maintain strong relationships and negotiate costs.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Ensure all products meet industry regulations, safety standards, and company quality requirements.
• Conduct performance testing and troubleshoot product defects to improve overall quality.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, Engineering, Textiles, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in product development, preferably in furniture, bedding, or upholstery.
• Knowledge of materials used in mattresses (foams, springs, textiles) and headboards (wood, metal, upholstery).
• Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and prototyping tools.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes, production techniques, and quality control.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with overseas manufacturers and suppliers.
• Understanding of ergonomics, sleep science, and consumer preferences in the bedding industry.
• Knowledge of sustainability practices and eco-friendly material sourcing.

Job Type: Freelance

Pay: £15.00-£16.00 per hour
