Calling all qualified teachers! Are you a qualified teacher who specialises in Music, PE, Art & Design, Food Technology, Science or Computing & ICT? Jigsaw School, a day school rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted for autistic children aged 4-19, has an exciting opportunity for a qualified teacher with experience of teaching the UK National Curriculum to lead a class of 3-6 pupils, providing 1:1 and small group support to enhance pupil progress.
You will become an integral part of our qualified teaching team with oversight of planning and implementation of school-wide curriculum for your specialised subject. At Jigsaw School, we use behaviour driven teaching strategies and interventions to encourage positive outcomes and development of our pupils. Leading a small class, you will design, plan and deliver teaching sessions to encourage pupils learning and progression as well as improve their social and emotional development. You will have access to a wide range of funded training and qualification opportunities in SEN education whilst gaining a breadth of experience with children of varying ages and abilities.
Salary: From £31,350 (plus regular salary progression upon completion of training)
Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 8:45am – 4:45pm, Tuesday: 8:45am – 5:30pm Friday: 8:45am – 4:30pm Part time working is considered – 3 or 4 days per week (working days must include a Tuesday)
Annual Leave: 56 days school holiday
Key Duties
- Provide teaching to a small class of pupils, following individualised curriculums
- Plan and implement school wide curriculum for your specialised subject and organise themed days and events such as healthy eating week and safer internet day
- Manage pupils’ curriculum targets and delivery of vocational qualifications
- Support pupils’ participation in trips, applying theory-based learning to practice
- Provide behaviourally based support to replace and reduce behaviours that impact quality of life
- Collect, record and analyse data to monitor progress and improve learning programmes
- Assist with breaktime duties including playground support and snack time

What do you need?
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teaching & Learning Status (QTLS)
- Mainstream teaching experience within the UK school system and an understanding of the UK National Curriculum
- An understanding and interest in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Comfortable working with children who exhibit behaviours that challenge
- Comfortable supporting others with personal/intimate care where required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise professionally with all stakeholders
