We’re looking for a new team of Hygiene Skilled Operatives to join our team in, Spalding, UK.
As the Hygiene skilled operative reporting into the Hygiene Shift Manager at Westfalia Fruit, your role will be keeping the hygiene standards to the required level in line with Technical & H&S standards, working between the 3 UK sites based in the Spalding area. With the Hygiene plan that has been set out it allows for set days at each site to minimise the travel between sites. As part of the role you will be cleaning the production lines, cleaning the floors with the use of floor scrubbing equipment, high-level cleaning & working in confined spaces.
Responsibilities Include:
- Ensure compliance with hygiene policies and regulatory standards (FSA, HSE, BRC, customer-specific).
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities, equipment, and processes to maintain hygiene standards.
- Provide training and education on hygiene, tracking compliance through monthly KPIs.
- Develop cleaning instruction cards, risk assessments, and safe work systems with the Site Hygiene & Environmental Manager.
- Lead daily huddle meetings to review health & safety, hygiene plans, and performance.
- Maintain accurate hygiene records, ensuring all cleaning activities are properly documented.
- Support staff recruitment, selection, and development, promoting training and coaching.
- Adhere to health & safety policies, keeping the workplace clean and addressing hazards immediately.
- Ensure food safety and integrity by handling products with care and reporting concerns promptly.
- Enforce hygiene rules, including PPE use and “clean as you go” procedures across all sites.
Requirements
- Previous experience working within a hygiene team is essential but within food manufacturing is desired.
- Scissor lift training (desired but not essential)
- HACCP and COSHH experience
- Good communication skills in English is essential
- Computer literate and used to working with Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail
- Able to juggle multiple tasks with deftness and attention to deadlines.
- Positive attitude and willing to learn and develop
- MUST have a drivers licence and own transport. As a night shift specialist public transport is not reliable and travel between sites is neccessary from time to time.
- Ability to work 4 on 4 off Night Shift patterns
