Job Title : Electrical Estimator

Salary: £55,000.00 (£50,000.00 Salary, £5,000.00 Car Allowance) (full time equivalent)

Location: Kirkham, Preston

Reporting to: Pre-construction Manager

Hours/ Days: 40 Hours per week, over 5 days (Mon-Fri)

Purpose and Key Objectives

The Estimator is responsible for accurately calculating the cost, time, materials, labour and equipment required for complex, mid-value projects. Including planning, development, negotiation, contract execution and problem resolution.

Key Responsibilities

Incoming enquiries

  • Review tender information once allocated and report findings of assessment back to manager/director within 24 hours.
  • Support Estimating Coordinator as required to:

o Acknowledge and collate tender enquiries received.

o Download relevant tender documentation and register on company CRM system.

o Assess incoming tenders to identify return date, programme dates/duration.

o Assess incoming tenders to identify overview of project, potential value, and initial project risks.

Review

  • Review documents for technical RFIs to be added to RFI tracker.
  • Prepare initial project narrative and record on CRM identifying brief description of project and initial observations.
  • Attend pre-tender/design meetings to clarify client requirements.
  • Record and log project risks on project risk register (lack of information; non-response to RFIs; unknowns; provisional allowances; non return of quotations; project specific risks, constraints or considerations).
  • Support Estimating Coordinator as required to:

o Review all tender documents received, match documents against document register.

o Prepare initial RFI document with any findings from document review and request for project particulars (programme dates, return dates etc).

o Prepare document pack; identify and print relevant drawings and documents.

o Manage RFI Tracker; adding team RFIs; adding client responses; chasing client responses when not received.

Estimating Tender Process

  • Follow Hensall procedural documents.
  • Carry our appropriate document control.
  • Carry out accurate take-offs for materials and cost works.
  • Attend pre-tender/mid-tender meetings and record minutes.
  • Review all supplier and subcontractor quotes, checking inclusions/exclusions and terms and conditions.
  • Produce net cost tender for presentation to manger/directors. Use estimating software.
  • Offer value engineering or alternative material suggestions for discussion.
  • Support Estimating Coordinator as required to:

o Issue enquiries for materials, plant, equipment, and subcontract packages with clear return dates.

o Create project on estimating software using unique enquiry number and build up using client CSA.

Submission

  • Conduct and participate in tender submission meeting.
  • Action agreed tender mark ups on company estimating software.
  • Ensure final costs, inclusions, exclusions, and assumptions are accurately defined and added to tender return letter.
  • Issue tender to meet return deadline and update CRM system.
  • Implement appropriate document control.
  • Support Estimating Coordinator as required to:

o Produce initial tender return letter template with quote number, date, client information, suitable picture etc.

o Prepare supporting S.O.R or B.O.Q if necessary.

Handover

  • Set up and coordinate handover meeting with relevant team members.
  • Record handover meeting using the company handover meeting template.
  • Prepare handover pack in the company filing structure.
  • Ensure all documents are filed correctly in the company filing structure and handover pack.
  • Prepare a hard copy handover pack where required.

Liaison

  • Generally coordinate with wider team to ensure processes are being followed.
  • Communicate with Hensall clients, consultants, supply chain members and other stakeholders to ensure the right information is being issues to the right people at the right time.
  • Record correspondence with stakeholders on the company CRM system.
  • Follow up submitted quotations with Hensall clients and keep up to date record keeping on the company CRM system.

Secondary Roles

  • Other activities as required to support the business.

Person Specification

Qualifications (if applicable)

  • Relevant industry qualification.
  • A basic DBS check will be required in the event the applicant is offered the position.
