Job Title: Data Management Director
Reporting to (Line Manager): Rob Baker, Chief Operating Officer
Working Pattern: Full-Time working 37.5 hours per week
Contract type: Temporary for a period of 15 months to cover a period of maternity leave
Work Location: Hybrid (note that the current expectation for office-based employees is a minimum of 2 days in the Bottisham office per week)

Role Summary:
We are seeking a technically minded data management leader to provide maternity leave cover. The Data Management Director will lead and oversee the data management activities across our clinical trial data management services and data pipelines. Acting as the primary point of contact for data management and statistical consultancy services, this lead role will work cross-functionally to ensure delivery of data management services to regulatory compliance and deliver data strategy.
What you 'll be doing:
As the Data Management Director at Cambridge Cognition, your role will cover the following tasks and responsibilities:
Delivery
- Lead the Data Management/Data Science functions
- Oversee budget and resource allocation for Data Management/Data Science functions
- Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding data management activities
- Provide guidance to database design and regulatory compliance
- Ensure on time delivery of data management activities across the team, including Data Management Plan and Data Transfer Agreement development, Data Transfer delivery, Data Monitoring and Database lock.
- Be accountable and oversee all statistical consultancy services delivered
- Manage external stakeholders and partnerships
- Engage in high-level business development
- Develop and implement policies for standardising data management / data science practices
Communication & Leadership
- Shape and execute strategic vision for data functions
- Engage in high-level strategic discussions and company direction
- Foster a positive and productive environment that encourages teamwork and professional growth
- Actively seek out opportunities to expand the company’s client base and business partnerships
- Train and mentor junior data management/data science team members on best practices, tools and compliance standards
What we need from you:
Essential Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Relevant Postgraduate degree (e.g. Masters, Post-honours Degree)
Knowledge & Experience:
- Proven ability to consistently deliver successful projects
- Experience in driving significant process improvements
- Understanding of broader market and clinical research landscape
- Engaged in ongoing professional development
Technical Experience:
- Experience with Python and/or Databricks and Apache Spark (Pyspark or Park SQL) for development of data pipelines
- Proficiency with data processing and transformation tools and frame works (ETL/ELTs, Apache Kafka etc)
- Solid understanding of cloud environments
- Experience in SQL
Aptitude:
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent organisation and project management skills
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., ICH-GCP, FDA, EMA guidance, 21 CRF Part 11)
- An analytical mindset with problem solving skills
- Commitment to exceptional quality
Desirable:
- Experience in CDISC Standards (SDTM, ADaM)
- Experience in Clinical Research
- Familiarity with GCP, ICH guidelines and clinical trial regulations
- Familiarity with Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems
- Familiarity with Amazon Webservices serverless implementation
- Leadership experience in training and mentoring junior data managers
