Castle Water has an exciting opportunity for a Software QA Tester to join our energetic and busy IT Department.
Salary range from £22,000 to £25,000 per annum dependent on experience.
- No shift work, Monday - Friday 9am-5pm
- Hybrid working Office/Home

- 28 days annual holiday which will increase by 1 day for each completed years’ service, to a maximum of 33 days.

Key Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience (preferably in the utilities sector) in software testing with a strong understanding of the tools, testing methods & techniques and process involved.
- Understanding of SDLC (waterfall & agile development methodologies).
- Experience of JIRA / X-ray or similar testing tools like TestRail, Bugzilla, Quality Center (ALM)
- Ability to analyze project documentation to ensure a thorough understanding of the business and technical requirements. These may include business requirements, functional specifications, process flow diagrams.
- Experience of managing / participating in UAT and CAT testing.
- Basic understanding of defect management with the ability to Identify, report and track software defects and issues.
- Independently develop and execute test plans to validate software functionality against requirements and specifications.
- Perform functional, performance, security and regression testing of software products.
- Experience of front and back-end testing, with an awareness of RDBMS and SQL Scripting.
- Ability to test in different environments including web and mobile.
- Understanding of Test reporting / test progress & defect reports.
Desirable Skills
- Demonstrate professional courtesy in all written and verbal communication.
- Good problem-solving skills and the tenacity to stay with an issue until it is resolved.
- Provide peer review of test artifacts produced by other test engineers.
- Provide testing support to the business users during testing.
- Develop and maintain healthy collaborative relationships with key partners such as Business Analysts/ Product Managers / Software Engineers & Business Users.
- Support the QA & Test Team in the establishment and implementation of effective practice and procedures for software testing and quality assurance.
- Able to use initiative and work to tight deadlines under pressure.
- Attention to detail with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
- ISEB Foundation in Software Test or similar relevant accreditation.
- Experienced in Web based automated testing tools (Selenium / Gherkin / Cucumber)
- Experience / exposure in testing of billing system software or ServiceNow Platform.
