Programme Manager - Health and Wellbeing
Home based in the North West, South East or Midlands (with UK-wide travel as required)

The Organisation

Perennial is the nation’s only charity dedicated to helping people in horticulture. Together with our network of partners, we provide free support, information, advice, financial assistance and services for horticulturalists and their loved ones experiencing illness, disability, bereavement, family breakdown and financial difficulties.

We have a real focus on improving the health and wellbeing outcomes of people working in horticulture and have an ambitious preventative strategy to create better futures for people working in horticulture.

We are now looking for a Programme Manager to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 37.5 hours per week. Part-time (a minimum of 3 full days) working arrangements will also be considered.

The Role

As our Programme Manager, you will lead the development and implementation of our preventative health and wellbeing strategies.

Specifically, you will design and deliver impactful programmes that address key health challenges in the horticultural sector, ensuring our initiatives are grounded in credible research and best practice.

Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will develop partnerships, create innovative resources, and support the delivery of health and wellbeing messages to target groups.

Additionally, you will:

  • Manage pilot projects and oversee their successful implementation
  • Develop and deliver training for professionals and produce appropriate resources
  • Develop partnerships with organisations that can support our mission
  • Provide expert advice to our help services team and partner organisations
  • Develop and manage a volunteer health champions programme

About You

To be considered as a Programme Manager, you will need:

  • At least three years’ experience in health promotion or prevention work
  • Experience designing, developing, delivering and evaluating training in relation to health and wellbeing initiatives
  • Project management experience
  • Experience of working with volunteers and implementing volunteer programmes
  • A proven track record in developing successful partnerships
  • Line management experience
  • A willingness to travel across the UK and work occasional evenings and weekends
  • A qualification in public health or health promotion
