About the Role

To assist the Head Chef and Executive Head Chef supporting with the daily kitchen activities, including supporting managing the team, aiding with menu preparation, ensuring food quality and freshness, and monitoring ordering and stocking. Utilising your culinary skills whilst developing your managerial skills to play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing our customers’ satisfaction delivering high quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages kitchen team members on behalf of the Executive Chef and Head Chef.
  • Communicates Executive Chef preparation procedures and presentation standards, observing methods of preparation, tasting and smelling prepared dishes, viewing colour, texture and garnishes, verifying portion sizes and ensuring that corporate standards for food quality are consistently met.
  • Assists with menu planning, inventory, and managing of supplies.
  • Gives input on daily food specials to minimise food cost by maintaining effective inventory levels.
  • Trains kitchen team members of proper food handling, maintenance, and safety.
  • Produce high quality plates both design and taste wise.
  • Resourcefully solve any issues that arise and grasp control of any problematic situation.
  • Ensures a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verifies all food products are properly dated and organised for quality assurance.
  • Keeps cooking stations stocked, especially before and during prime operation hours.
  • Assists with food and product ordering by keeping detailed records and minimises waste, plus works with existing systems to improve waste reduction and manage budgetary concerns.
  • Supervises all food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and restaurant standards.
  • Verifies that food storage units all meet standards and are consistently well-managed.

Health & Safety

  • To be aware of and comply with Legal, Government and Company Policies relating to Fire, Hygiene, Health & Safety and Food Hygiene Laws.
  • Assist management by advising on Health and Safety aspects within the department.
  • Health & Safety Policies and procedures relating to all activities, areas and personnel are understood and that the operational teamwork in accordance with these.
  • Support management by ensuring the team are trained to adhere to quality, hygiene, and cleanliness standards.
  • Ensure all cooked foods are stored correctly and in the correct fridges.
  • Ensure as directed that refrigeration temperature logs are being maintained.
  • To maintain a current awareness of developments and requirements of Health and Safety and Food Safety Law.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: Up to £33,000.00 per year
