PURPOSE OF ROLE:

  • The Lead Software Test Engineer is responsible for overseeing the testing activities within the software development life cycle to ensure the quality and functionality of applications and systems.
  • This position requires leadership skills to guide a team of testers, work closely with developers and stakeholders, and ensure that testing processes are robust and deliver high-quality software.
  • The Test Lead is also responsible for designing test strategies, managing test execution, tracking defects, and ensuring that all deliverables meet the required quality standards.
  • They lead the continuous improvement of our testing capabilities, including the transition to a high degree of automation.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage end-to-end testing efforts across our Scrum teams
  • Build and manage effective test teams, including training and people management
  • Develop and maintain the overall test strategy and process for the organisation in conjunction with the Head of Software
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a high level of software quality.
  • Lead the continuous improvement of our test function, including tools, technologies, and frameworks
  • Report on testing progress and provide critical insights into software quality metrics.
  • Work with our agile planning framework to design, create, and execute comprehensive testing plans for our software systems
  • Define and implement a transition from manual to automated testing

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • Experience in API and data testing
  • 8+ years’ experience in Software Testing
  • Certifications in software testing (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE).
  • Knowledge of continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based systems and testing in cloud environments.
  • Proficiency with programming languages (e.g., Java, JavaScript / TypeScript, Python, C) for test automation.
  • Experience with leading the transition from a manual to automated test approach
  • Extensive experience in Agile processes and product testing
