A lead role with key responsibilities for the technical management and direct oversight of the aerodynamic development of an individual car year project.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead the delivery of aerodynamic performance for a specific car year project, with direct technical management and oversight of the aerodynamic development.
  • Work as part of the management group to construct a mutually agreed and communicated aerodynamic development plan.
  • Monitor, guide and directly contribute to the aerodynamic development progress, working closely with the aero development teams.
  • Promote an ambitious, positive, respectful, and logical approach to aerodynamic development with a clear strategic framework.
  • Utilise computation and experimental methods throughout the design and development process, with an innovative and questioning approach.
  • Suggest and contribute with new methods and processes to improve efficiency of aerodynamic ideas generation, design, testing, analysis, and reporting.
  • Contribute to collaborative discussions and efforts to improve whole-car performance, offering ideas and taking on board feedback from others.
  • Communicate key findings, opportunities, and threats to key stakeholders within the aerodynamics department and other key areas of the company.

Requirements

  • A minimum 10 years’ relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within the motorsport industry.
  • Highly innovative and creative, with a deep understanding of race aerodynamics and typical flow characteristics and behaviours.
  • Strong understanding of the Formula One Technical Regulations.
  • Experience in leading, managing and directly contributing to aerodynamic development across all areas of the car.
  • Strong experience in state-of-the-art CFD/Wind Tunnel/Track aerodynamic testing approaches and methodologies.
  • Ambitious and self-motivating with the ability to motivate and extract maximum potential from others.
  • Well versed with CFD and 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA).
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to line manage/lead teams effectively.
  • Communicate effectively with key stakeholders/directors.
  • Clear and concise communication, verbally and with the use of email.
  • Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture.
