Project Manager -

Location: Coventry, United Kingdom
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Broadreach Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee and manage a range of Ground Investigation projects in the Coventry area. Key Role Responsibilities:

Project Management & Delivery

  • Take responsibility for managing and delivering a variety of Ground Investigation projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
  • Develop and refine operational processes to enhance the efficiency and quality of project delivery.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to engineers, ensuring they are upskilled to meet project requirements.
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop new client relationships and secure ongoing business.
  • Assist with the preparation and management of the annual project budget, ensuring financial success for the team.
  • Champion and enforce Health & Safety standards across all projects, ensuring compliance and best practices are followed.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning, supervision, and programming of Ground Investigation projects for the Coventry office.
  • Support the Project Managers, Engineers, and the Technical Team in project execution, ensuring tasks are effectively coordinated.
  • Demonstrate expertise in various Ground Investigation techniques and apply knowledge to projects.
  • Manage projects ranging from small to large-scale (£1M+), from project award through to completion.
  • Take responsibility for the financial control of projects, ensuring budget adherence and profitability.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and assist with maintaining the financial performance of projects.
  • Manage and mentor a team of Site Engineers and Technicians, fostering career development and performance improvement.
  • Contribute to technical proposal writing, attend tender visits, and assist with contract scoping when required.
  • Ensure projects are executed in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner, including the delivery of comprehensive reports.

Business Development

  • Allocate time for business development activities to generate new leads, build relationships, and expand ongoing project work.
  • Support the development of new business opportunities, services, and products.
  • Engage with clients regularly to maintain relationships and ensure their satisfaction with project outcomes.

Human Resources

  • Maintain up-to-date technical and professional qualifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Promote a culture of compliance with company policies, rules, and Health & Safety procedures.
  • Lead by example to ensure that high Health & Safety standards are maintained across all projects.
  • Mentor junior team members and ensure they receive the guidance and support needed for their professional growth.
  • Assist with recruitment, retention, and training of staff in accordance with team requirements and business objectives.
  • Work alongside senior management to address any HR, disciplinary, or grievance matters as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a Geotechnical discipline (or related field).
  • Completion of relevant Health & Safety training such as CSCS (Manager Level), SMSTS, and CDM 2015 Regulations.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Competencies:

  • 5-10 years of experience in the geotechnical or ground investigation industry.
  • Minimum of 3 years of project management experience, overseeing successful project delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of ground investigation techniques, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Familiarity with Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation and its practical application on projects.
  • Experience managing contracts in accordance with ICE and NCE standards.
  • Experience with geotechnical and Geo Environmental laboratory testing procedures.
  • Strong data management skills, with experience in compiling and presenting large datasets.
  • Competent in using MS Office and relevant ground investigation software tools.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to work across all levels.
  • Flexible and adaptable with a commitment to project success.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in financial forecasting and controlling project costs.
  • Membership with a relevant professional body (e.g., ICE, GeolSoc).
  • Actively working towards Chartered Status.

Mandatory Training:

  • Online Health & Safety Training modules (paid by the company).
  • Online HR Policies Awareness modules (paid by the company).
