CNC Recruitment is seeking an Assembly Operative for our client in the Chard area, a well-respected engineering manufacturer.

Role Overview

Reporting directly to the Manufacturing Manager, this role involves assembling components according to drawings, standard work methods, and job card instructions. The goal is to produce high-quality components efficiently and accurately.

Location – Chard area

Job type – Temp to perm, potentially permanent for the right candidate

Working hours - Monday-Thursday: 08:00-17:00 | Friday: 08:00-13:00

Pay - £12.50 an hour, weekly pay

Key Responsibilities

Assembly

  • Assemble components to meet customer drawing requirements.
  • Apply relevant assembly techniques with precision.
  • Identify and resolve assembly-related issues effectively.
  • Utilize available tooling appropriately.
  • Accurately record job bookings through the APS system.
  • Complete assemblies within allocated timeframes, aiming for efficiency improvements.
  • Ensure first-off inspections meet drawing specifications.
  • Maintain accurate and complete shop floor documentation.

Quality Assurance

  • Uphold a “right first time” approach to work.
  • Report any discrepancies between work practices and documented standards to the Section Leader or Quality Manager.
  • Notify relevant personnel of any deviations from customer drawing requirements for formal approval.

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to process enhancements through proactive problem-solving.
  • Adhere to and support 6S activities, suggesting improvements where possible.

General Duties

  • Be open to additional responsibilities in line with skills, experience, and training.

Health & Safety

  • Comply with all Health & Safety and Environmental regulations.
  • Prioritize safety when implementing process improvements.
  • Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Report accidents, dangerous occurrences, and near-misses to the Health & Safety Manager or committee.

Requirements

  • Previous assembly experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

  • Problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.

  • Ability to work efficiently within a team and independently.

  • Good communication skills and a positive attitude.

  • Basic understanding of health & safety in a workshop environment.
