Job Title: Learning and Development (L &D) Manager
Location: Manchester, Eccles
Salary: £40-45k

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Learning and Development Manager to lead our training initiatives, ensuring our staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills to provide outstanding care.

Job Summary:

As the Learning and Development Manager, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, delivering, and evaluating training programs that enhance the skills and knowledge of our workforce. You will work closely with senior leadership, managers, and frontline staff to develop training strategies that align with regulatory standards, best practices, and the specific needs of individuals receiving mental health support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement a comprehensive L&D strategy aligned with the organisation’s objectives and compliance requirements.
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate training programs covering mental health awareness, safeguarding, de-escalation techniques, person-centered care, and other relevant topics.
  • Facilitate in-person and virtual training sessions to support staff development and compliance with best practices.
  • Identify training needs through assessments, staff feedback, and service evaluations.
  • Work closely with external training providers and accreditation bodies to ensure high-quality and up-to-date training.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics.
  • Support the professional development of employees by facilitating career pathways and continued learning opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate training records, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and development within the organization.
  • Lead on induction programs for new staff, ensuring they are well-equipped to provide high-quality care and support.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends, policies, and regulations within the mental health and social care sectors.
  • Management of apprenticeship partnerships
  • Management of Training compliance in line with regulations

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in a Learning and Development role, preferably within the health and social care or mental health sector.
  • Strong understanding of mental health challenges, safeguarding, and person-centered care principles.
  • Experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs.
  • Knowledge of relevant compliance standards, such as CQC (Care Quality Commission) requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage and inspire staff at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Proficiency in using e-learning platforms and digital training tools.

Desirable:

  • Recognised L&D qualification (e.g., CIPD Level 5 in Learning and Development, PTLLS, or equivalent experience).
  • Mental health-related qualification or experience in frontline mental health services.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring staff.
  • Familiarity with funding opportunities for staff development and training grants.
