As we continue to expand, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in managing financial operations across a variety of care and education-focused businesses.

As the Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial health of our group of companies, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations. You will work closely with senior management and other departments to provide critical financial insight, support strategic decision-making, and help drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for multiple entities within the group.
  • Oversee the preparation of management accounts, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for different departments and business units.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax laws, and regulations in the care and education sectors.
  • Manage and reconcile company bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial transactions.
  • Support the finance team with year-end audits, liaising with external auditors and providing necessary documentation.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls and financial procedures to ensure accuracy and reduce risks.
  • Provide regular financial insights to senior management, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Coordinate and operate payroll and benefits administration, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Process and manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate payments and collections.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification (or working towards).
  • Previous experience working as an Accountant, ideally within the care or education sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of UK accounting principles and tax regulations.
  • Experience using accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar).
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with senior management and staff across different departments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a positive and collaborative attitude.

Desirable:

  • Experience with multi-entity accounting and consolidation.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting in the healthcare or education sectors.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations specific to the care industry (e.g., Ofsted, Care Quality Commission regulations) or education finance.
  • Experience with payroll and pensions administration.

Pay: Up to £40,000.00 per year
