SMD are a specialist flooring sub-contractor within the construction sector, established for over 35 years we have been involved in the construction of some of the most icon buildings in the UK and overseas. Responsibilities:

To accurately price, track and manage estimates from receipt of information to placement of order. You will work alongside an Account Manager and delivery team to secure and deliver floor, roof and concrete topping projects in line with agreed sales targets.

• Review and allocate all enquiries received daily from clients and organize into projects to be priced following booking in procedure.
• Evaluate tender information and price in line with written estimating procedures.
• Record all tender information and feedback on our bespoke CRM system in line with procedures.
• Build relationships with clients by talking to them for feedback on submitted bids and record contact, actions and findings on internal CRM.
• Ensure that no estimates are recorded as being late “RED” for overdue client contact.
• Negotiate and secure contracts to hit specified sales KPI targets by monitoring and tracking weekly .
• Provide high level calculations using “elements” at tender stage where requested (training given)
• Constantly evaluate the market and competition and adjust costings (including OHP) to suit.
• Evaluate lost projects monthly and report reasons for loosing on the CRM system.
• Assist the Commercial Manager with updating estimate templates.
• Obtain specialist material quotations for specialist roofing and concrete products when required.
• Understand what to look for in key tender contract documents to ensure a compliant bid.
• Collate and present secured contract information to the Commercial Manager in line with procedure to enable an internal launch meeting.
• Report any NCR’s (Lets Learn) through the CRM system where any improvements are identified.
• Action any NCR’s that are raised and your action has been requested to close out.
• Attend Weekly & Monthly sales/operations meeting and contribute in line with standard meeting agenda.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as an estimator in the construction industry
• Relevant qualifications in construction, civil engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with CAD design is a plus.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
