Are you an experienced project manager with a passion for delivering change in a complex stakeholder environment? Northern is looking for a Retail Transformation

Manager to ensure successful delivery of industry-led retail initiatives that enhance customer experience, modernise the retailing landscape and align with Northern’s own retail strategy.

This role is perfect for a strategic thinker with a track record of managing transformation projects, influencing senior stakeholders, and ensuring cost-effective solutions.

What you 'll be doing:

• Lead and deliver retail transformation projects that improve ticketing, revenue protection, and customer experience across the North.
• Manage a team of external consultants, ensuring efficient use of resources and best value for Northern and its stakeholders.
• Align retail projects with Northern’s wider business strategy, including customer service, programme management and facilities management.
• Engage with senior stakeholders across the Department for Transport, Great British Railways, Rail Delivery Group and local transport authorities to shape and deliver industry change.
• Secure external funding and manage investment in retail transformation, ensuring financial efficiency.
• Oversee a seamless transition from project delivery to business-as-usual operations.

About You:

• Strong project management experience with a proven track record of delivering complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
• Ability to influence and manage senior stakeholders, ensuring alignment on key retail strategies.
• Knowledge of technical developments in ticketing and retailing, with an understanding of future industry trends.
• Experience working with government agencies or industry bodies at a senior level.
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to develop business cases for transformation initiatives.
• Educated to degree level or equivalent management qualification, ideally with a focus on project and programme delivery.
