Job Purpose:
To ensure the compliant, efficient, safe, and cost-effective day to day operation of the Axil Total Waste Management contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the on-site Waste Teams at various customers sites under their supervision.
- Deliver suitable training for all team members and delivery of regular team briefings.
- Ensure Health & safety policies & procedures are adhered to.
- Ensure that the waste storage areas are kept in good, compliant order at all times and the inventory is minimised as far as is reasonably practicable.
- Ensure waste segregation processes are adhered to.
- Deliver improvements in processes to help deliver cost reduction.
- Assist with the compilation of procedures relevant to the operations conducted by the Waste Team on and off-site.
- Assist with the compilation of risk assessments as required under Axil procedures.
- Carry out regular competency assessments to ensure the team continue working safely and compliantly.
- Ensure that work is carried out within the terms of the contract
- To ensure that all work is scheduled efficiently with the best use of both labour and equipment by managing the onsite teams effectively
- To ensure that safe operating procedures are always adopted in line with Axil requirements
- Motivate, train and develop such staff as directly report to the job holder
- Assist with the delivery of new waste projects at site level
- Comply with all company administrative procedures associated with the role
- Carry out any other such reasonable job-related tasks as the company may require you to undertake from time to time
- Regular travel and nights out may be required
Training (Desirable)
- IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH
- ILM Level 3 / Level 4 or equivalent
Knowledge, skills, competencies & Experience
- Driving licence
- Knowledge of waste management site and processes (not essential)
- IT Skills (Microsoft Office / Excel)
- Safety and Environmental Awareness
- Waste knowledge / experience (not essential)
- Strong people management skills
- Communication at all levels
- Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders
- Attention to detail and focus on customer requirements
Location
Worcestershire / Warwickshire borders (M5 / M40 corridor)
Working hours
Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week but flexibility required
