As our Senior Legal Counsel (m/f/d) , you’ll advise on global construction and power issues such as contracting methods and risks; evaluating potential means for improving global contracts and model forms; critical negotiations and terms of major transactions; ongoing obligations of NTT GDC and its subsidiaries/affiliates in all related transactions; insurance coverage; safety; construction-related procurement, PPAs and training for employees and applicable vendors. There will be a high degree of autonomy within the role, but ultimately, you’ll be working as part of the wider legal team and under the supervision and guidance of - and reporting to - the Senior Director, Legal, Global Construction & Power.

What you will do

  • Provides legal support to business and/or operations on all forms of construction & power contracting agreements, including (but not limited to) general contractor agreements, supply orders, OFCI procurement, PPAs, heat management, NDAs, etc.
  • Reviews, negotiates and makes amendments to legal terms and conditions in construction and power agreements, including leading tender review processes for key business projects globally
  • Prepares legal reports on the status of legal matters
  • Liaising closely with the Procurement/Supply Chain & Finance teams on legal issues and standard drafting queries
  • Responsible for identifying, and where possible mitigating, risk presented by construction and power contracts across NTT GDC
  • Responsible for ensuring awareness and acceptance of risks arising from global construction and power contracts, and handling of construction and power disputes, across the entire NTT GDC Group
  • Advises company management on complex matters, using persuasion in delivering messages, with the ability to adapt style to differing audiences and often advises others on difficult matters, including potential risks in contractual, regulatory, compliance, financial, and legal areas

What we are looking for

  • Interacts with internal and external stakeholders calmly under pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong experience in contract drafting, commercial terms, and negotiations
  • Strong experience in construction and/or power contracts
  • Developed business acumen, and the ability to combine legal and business analysis and judgment in a practical manner
  • Self-starter, well organized with ability to work calmly in a fast-paced environment and produces consistent, positive results under deadline pressure
  • Bachelor’s degree in law or diploma or other relevant certifications
  • Good command of standard IT platforms
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required
  • LLB Bachelor’s degree in law, Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school, or equivalent
  • Minimum five+ (5+) years relevant industry inhouse experience
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills (preferably alongside German or another European language)
