Job Details

  • As part of the Data Engineering team, provides a ‘build’ capability that delivers new and improved insight and information flows to the rest of the business
  • Works with business users, data scientists and data architects to understand and clarify requirements for new or changed data structures, data flows or automated processes, with guidance from more experienced colleagues as required
  • Supports business users, data scientists and data architects in identifying appropriate data sources within data environments for specified analysis and reporting purposes
  • Builds simple data structures, data flows and processes from supplied specifications, using agreed standards and tools, to achieve a well-engineered result.
  • Carries out simple database modelling and creates appropriate database schemas that comply with organisation-wide architectural and design guidelines in mind
  • Conducts tests of processes and resulting data sets, corrects errors, and re-tests to achieve error-free results.

Skills we would love you to have

  • practical experience working in a data or technology role either within a project or corporate environment, applying data analysis and data modelling techniques; or appropriate IT academic qualifications e.g. Computer Science.
  • Some knowledge of the following areas (or comparable equivalents):
  • Core: Time Management; Attention to Detail; Good written & verbal communication skills; Teamwork; Database Modelling; SQL; Writing Stored Procedures; ETL processes; Snowflake; ADF; ADO
  • Peer Reviews; Problem Solving Techniques; Business Analysis techniques; Reporting Tools; Information Retrieval Tools; Database Optimisation & Tuning; Index Optimisation; Data Security;
  • Advantageous: Customer Service techniques; Analytical Thinking; Unit Testing; Application Development Tools; Statistical Sampling Techniques;
