Position: Accounts Assistant (12 month fixed term contract)

Location: Head Office - Chaneys Chartered Surveyors, Chiltern House, Marsack Street, Reading, RG4 5AP (office based)

Working Hours: 08:30 - 17:00, Monday - Friday

The Accounts Assistant is responsible for updating and maintenance of Chaneys accounting systems, controls and reporting, assisting in the accounting production process and for providing general administrative and other accounting support to the Client Accountant along with support for other TPG Brands.

Key responsibilities and tasks include:

  • Support year-end accounts issuance, maintain accounting systems, manage workflows, and assist with service charge budgets.
  • Prepare and coordinate internal reports, quarterly financial reports, and ad hoc financial documents.
  • Prepare and issue service charge accounts, manage statutory accounts, and handle Section 20B notices.
  • Monitor, process, and update periodic recharges (utilities, insurance, etc.), and respond to resident queries.
  • Perform AR tasks (receipt allocation, bank reconciliations), maintain control sheets, and support internal system improvements.
  • Assist with administrative duties across teams and support project initiatives as directed.

Qualifications and Skills:

Candidates for this position should have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Experience in finance preferred; knowledge of service charges/rent is an advantage.
  • Strong IT Skills - Proficiency in Word & Excel (intermediate to advanced), with data manipulation experience beneficial.
  • Excellent Communication - Strong written and verbal skills required.
  • Organisational & Analytical Skills - Attention to detail, numeracy, integrity, and ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • GCSE A-C in Maths & English; accounting qualification (AAT/CIMA/ACCA) is a plus.
  • Team player, reliable, methodical, self-motivated, and able to use initiative.
