We are presently collaborating with a distinguished, large tertiary hospital situated in a lively coastal city in Northern Queensland to recruit a Clinical Director of Rehabilitation Services - Mental Health Service Group.
This hospital serves a community of more than 250,000 people across a vast geographical area and is a crucial healthcare provider for the northern region. As one of the largest hospital in Northern Australia, it offers world-class services, including advanced specialised care, and is a major teaching and research center.

The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dedicated and visionary Psychiatrist to lead and manage a sophisticated psychiatric rehabilitation service. The role involves overseeing a Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit, two community residential facilities, and a Mobile Intensive Rehabilitation Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned professional to take a leadership role in an innovative, patient-centered service while being part of a supportive team. In addition to clinical leadership, there are opportunities for academic involvement, including research and teaching future healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee all aspects of clinical care for the Rehabilitation Program Area, ensuring the highest professional and ethical standards.
- Manage a team of psychiatrists, ensuring appropriate clinical coverage, staffing, leave management, and day-to-day operations.
- Lead education, research, and training activities within the rehabilitation service.
- Drive service development initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Take responsibility for clinical governance, patient safety, and quality management within the program.
- Actively contribute to the operational management and strategic direction of the Mental Health Service Group.
- Represent the service at state and national Rehabilitation Psychiatry forums.
What You Bring:
- Qualifications in Psychiatry, with recognition by the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and current eligibility for registration as a Specialist with the Medical Board of Australia or MRCPsych and CCT.
- Extensive experience in psychiatric practice, including leadership roles within mental health services.
- A commitment to academic excellence, quality improvement, and the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.
- Ability to lead and inspire teams, ensuring optimal patient care and safety.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with experience in engaging various stakeholders.
