A quick look at the role

The Business Analyst works with the suite of IT applications within Biffa to provide meaningful data and recommendations for Business Improvement. Reporting to the Operational Development Manager and working closely with the Regional Teams, the Development department and Commercial team, this role is responsible for analysing data and supporting improvements in operations and the commercial performance of the business. The role is used to build collection and street cleansing resource plans, model and optimize routes to enable the business to operate services in the most cost-effective model.

Your core responsibilities

  • Summarizing data and report writing to present comparable solutions for re-routes, bid modelling and service change scenarios, managing re-route projects using a bespoke software, ensuring that optimized solutions are developed and reports prepared to be reviewed by the business development team and operational management teams.
  • Analysis of operational performance across our range of collection and street cleansing operations, highlighting risk and opportunities using data provided by vehicle telematics, taco-graph software, in-cab PDA data, waste data flows and business intelligence reports.
  • Facilitate the progression and resolution of system support tasks for Whitespace and ancillary systems, ensuring issues are gathered and clearly documented.
  • Detailed analysis and documentation of business systems and processes required to achieve the defined objectives.
  • Develop implementation plans for mobilising large operational change projects, preparing and managing the communication data for large scale communication projects informing residents of schedule changes.
  • Promote a partnership culture between the IT department and the Municipal Division including liaison with L&D for training literature and knowledge.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the business on best solutions and adoptions of systems and processes.
  • Review property numbers providing the depots with accurate billing numbers ensuring the business is consistently auditing the property numbers for accurate invoicing.
  • Checking and ensuring depots have accurate property data and properties are all scheduled to rounds and reporting on anomalies.
