Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented payroll assistant, who is looking to take on more responsibility as they progress. This role is for 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday but hours can be increased for the right candidate

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing timesheets
  • Providing information and answering employee questions about payroll related matters
  • Processing new starters and leavers, ensuring all paperwork is receive
  • Calculating payable hours, bonuses and deductions
  • Preparing and running monthly payroll, ensuring strict deadlines are met
  • Keeping pension scheme up to date
  • Issuing Payslips
  • Keeping employee records up to date, including right to work
  • Maintaining holiday and sickness records
  • Completing year end procedures
  • Ad hoc / additional duties as required to meet the needs of the business

Experience/Skills

  • 2+ years of experience working in a payroll office
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of statutory payments and deductions
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Working knowledge of relevant legal regulations
  • Able to prioritise and multitask effectively
  • Highly Organised
  • Ability to meet deadlines

Essential Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Sage 50 Payroll or similar payroll software

Personal Attributes

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proactive and adaptable with a willingness to learn
