You could join our team of dedicated staff members based at our HQ in Adderbury, Oxfordshire.

The CEO works under the direction of Council, a team of volunteer Non-executive

Directors who are elected by the membership.

You will have responsibility for:

• Development and promotion of microlight flying in the UK
• Managing our team of dedicated and specialist staff members
• Oversight of the Technical Office, delivering regulatory and engineering services
• Management and development of member services
• Financial and accounting responsibility
• Leading the association to meet the needs & challenges of the future

Our ideal candidate will have the following experience :

• Previous experience in, or an understanding of, the UK microlight (or GA) environment
• Management experience at a senior level, including line management of staff and preferably with prior board experience (or equivalent)
• Sufficient qualifications or experience to manage the BMAA airworthiness department and serve as Accountable Manager for the CAA (See ’ note ’ below)
• An understanding of the NPPL licensing system as is as well the proposed changes
• Experience in financial planning, budgeting and operational financial management

You should have the following qualities:

• A strong communicator with both people and technical skills.
• Capable of leading a team of dedicated staff members to maintain high standards
• Willing to develop and inspire a pool of volunteers to deliver services outside the
• scope of the employed staff members
• Capable of representing BMAA members in discussions with regulators and other government departments as well as in matters of flight safety, planning, and airspace.
• Capable of take an independent stance in discussions and influence others
• Initiative and imagination in order to promote microlight flying in the UK

Note: The BMAA holds delegated regulatory responsibilities through an exposition with the Civil Aircraft Association. The BMAA CEO is the ‘Accountable Manager’ and responsible for adhering to the quality standards as set out in the exposition. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate their ability to carry out the role of Accountable Manager via an interview process with CAA. You will be supported in meeting this requirement.

The position is office-based with some travel to attend meeting to represent the organisation for which you will need access to your own transport. There are a few weekend commitments over the year for trade shows, competitions & major events which the CEO & staff attend but receive time off in lieu in compensation.

We offer salary in line with your experience, 28 days’ holiday plus 8 bank holidays and a pension scheme.
