We are currently looking for an Engineering Manager to join the team in either our Bristol or Exeter office. This role will be to Manage all aspect of the technical delivery of new build housing developments in conjunction with the Engineering Manager and other departments

Primary responsibilities will include

  • To work within the technical function of the business, working on residential projects for our Bristol, Exeter and Cornwall offices
  • Reporting to Regional Senior Management Team, specifically the Head of Technical.
  • Manage the design process for design and build contracts, and traditional contracts.
  • Act as the primary contact for the design teams, supply chain partners with and project stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Facilitate design workshops to develop the project in a cost-effective manner whilst retaining design intent
  • Manage compliance checks against specification, budget and client requirements.
  • Advise on cost effectiveness of alternative methods of construction.
  • Co-ordinate the design information supplied to /from our construction division - including the project supply chain.
  • Manage design output to agreed programmes.
  • Liaise with Local Authorities, Statutory Authorities, Building Control, Building Warranty Providers and Planning Departments.
  • Liaise with Utility Providers

Qualifications / Experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar position
  • Strong communication skills with a pro-active approach and excellent problem solving skills
  • A hands on approach and a willingness to work with and alongside the team
  • Ability to lead and build strong relationships with internal and external teams
  • To recognise contractual, financial, technical and operational risks and to find opportunities both on your own and with the team to minimise risk and where necessary, assist with the resolution of these risks.
