IT Operations Manager
at Sword GroupAbout the job
“The countdown to your next career move starts now”,
“Reach for the stars and rocket power your future”,
“An out of this world opportunity”.
There are far too many clichés we could use to describe this opportunity to play a key role in the development of the UK Space Industry as IT Operations Manager. We’ll try to keep the clichés to a minimum.
The UK is now established as the most attractive destination in Europe to host commercial small satellite launch – offering the right geography, the right business and regulatory environment, and the right industrial capability to support a range of spaceflight activities.
This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic leadership team as IT Operations Manager for one of the UK’s key spaceports. This newly created position offers the chance to ensure best-in-class IT systems, support, and technological innovation across UK mainland and offshore locations.
If you’re passionate about technology and eager to make a significant impact in a rapidly evolving sector, this role is perfect for you. There will be regular travel within the UK and whilst you’ll be developing and leading your technology team to provide support and drive innovation, this will be a hands-on gig with sleeves rolled up.
You’ll assess, plan, and deliver a full range of Technology, Security and Data solutions, support colleagues and rocket teams at base sites, manage vendor relationships, and engage directly with the Executive Leadership Team.
High level view of the role:
- Design and implement IT strategies.
- Develop policies and procedures for best practice IT systems.
- Monitor data protection and information security incidents.
- Conduct technical risk assessments.
- Investigate new technology developments.
- Support key projects related to endpoint user experience.
- Provide endpoint technical support.
- Support problem and change management.
- Ensure safe and secure endpoint devices.
- Manage escalations and report on performance.
- Ensure adherence to IT Security standards.
- Provide assurance and performance reports.
- Maintain Business Continuity plans.
Requirements
Who we’re looking for:
- Experience in dynamic and ideally, regulated environments.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and IMS.
- Significant technical service experience.
- Expertise in IT systems and endpoint management.
- Formal project management qualification (PRINCE2 or MSP) would be advantageous.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service ethos.
- Business acumen in strategy formulation.
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities.
Benefits
Sword are providing talent acquisition services on this remarkable opportunity. This will be a staff role, employed by our client. Salary and benefits package will be commensurate to the role and depth of experience you will bring to the team.
Because of the nature of this role, you will be expected to travel throughout Scotland (including sites not on the mainland) so this could best be described as a Hybrid role with travel, and may be best suited to candidates based in or around cities such as Inverness or Aberdeen.
And to finish on a cliché… who knows where this role might take you one day?
