KYN HURLINGHAM is our second which opened in 2024. It’s a 32-bedroom home offering each resident an elegant and comfortable bedroom, communal areas for dining and reclining. We have a further two care homes in development in London.

About the opportunity:
As a Deputy Manager here at KYN you will be an essential part of the operations team, helping to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere and consistently delivering an exceptional care experience for our residents and their families.
You will be responsible for supporting the Home Manager in the general the day-to-day supervision and management of the home, ensuring that quality and clinical governance is adhered to and the care home is CQC compliant.
- To have an in-depth understanding of, and responsibility for ensuring the delivery of an exceptional care experience for every resident
- To ensure that personalised care is in place and delivered at all times
- To ensure that you maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the CQC standards/frameworks and requirements and ensure yourself and the team adhere to them at all times
- To ensure compliance with up-to-date safeguarding best practices, policies and any other regulatory or company policies at all times
- To support the Home Manager and wider team with the admissions process, ensuring that decisions regarding the suitability of potential residents are carefully considered based on appropriate details to make informed decisions and always considering the best needs of the individual, other residents and the home.
- To monitor individual care plans, ensuring that these are in place and reviewed thoroughly on a regular basis
- To support Team Members in updating care plans and ensure that regular care plan audits are undertaken with the results carefully analysed and action plans created and delivered as necessary to ensure best practice is maintained
- To develop excellent relationships and a sound individual understanding of residents and their medical and care needs. You will do this through close communication with residents and their families, as well as any external healthcare professionals linked to our residents, this will include GP’s, NHS and Private healthcare specialists, Pharmacists and any other agencies involved in residents’ care
- To ensure that every care plans is individualised, thorough and inclusive of all medical needs and interventions, including the residents emotional, spiritual, physical, material needs
- To ensure that every element of care plans are carefully and consistently met, this will include ensuring that all treatment advice, recommendations from GP’s, Consultants, Pharmacists, Specialist Nurse Advisors and Public Health are documented and communicated effectively to the resident concerned, their family where appropriate and Team Members
- To ensure that all treatments/procedures are carried out sensitively with the necessary consent which must be recorded and documented
- To liaise with Pharmacists as necessary to ensure that medication administration meets the residents and homes expectations
- To ensure the medicine management and Team Member practice meets standards and guidance and carry out medication competency checks on Team Members as required.
- To oversee and monitor the medication administration to residents, ensuring accurate medication is supplied and administered as prescribed and as per Company policy
- To ensure that all residents are safe and free from harm
- To report any concerns or suspicions, or if anything is reported to you that could be deemed as form of potential abuse of harm, escalate immediately to the Home Manager, Operations Director, and/or any nominated Safeguarding personnel and ensure that all instructions are followed diligently
- To ensure that all data, personal records and information, whether physical or system based is accurate, up to date, secure and confidential
- To promote and ensure your teams understanding of the KYN values to create a culture of respect for our residents’ privacy and understand that residents’ identities and confidentiality must never be exposed or breached
- Along with the Home Manager and HR team, to carefully consider any employment application ensuring that only those who meet the KYN standards and requirements successfully join the team and are onboarded in a positive and engaging manner
- To act as a role model, supporting, managing, coaching, and developing the team to ensure that everyone can reach their full potential and promote a culture of learning and continuous improvement
- To deal with performance/behavioural issues quickly and professionally and to undertake management of any disciplinary, grievance, absence management or other people process as necessary with the support of the HR Team
- To role model the KYN values and behaviours ensuring that these are inherent in all team interaction to support the KYN Culture
- To lead by example helping to create a positive, enriching and uplifting environment
- To provide leadership across the whole home in the absence of the Home Manager and/or Clinical Lead and to be ‘on-call’ for emergencies
- To lead shifts, ensuring safe staffing ratios and skill mix are maintained across the whole home, allocating duties, undertaking supervision and management of care and ancillary Team Members across the home
- To attend all statutory training sessions making certain that practices reflect the learning outcomes of the training
- To attend any other training sessions that KYN deem applicable to the role
- Adhere to all KYN’s policies and procedures.
About you:
- You will have previous Deputy Manager experience within a residential / nursing care home environment
- You will have a minimum of three years’ experience in a supervisory role in a similar setting
- You will have a sound grasp of business and operational management within a large care home
- You will have the ability to lead, supervise, motivate, and manage a large team of staff
- You will have excellent written and oral communication skills including IT skills.
- You will have a good understanding of CQC Fundamental Standards strong knowledge and skills in promoting Person Centred Care
- You will have excellent time management skills with the ability to work under pressure.
- You will have strong organisational skills, with a good eye for detail
- You will be an organised person with strong communication and influencing skills, an approachable manner, an eye for detail and the ability to drive standards that not only meet but exceed expectations and elevate the lives of our current/future residents
- You will hold or willing to work towards, a Leve 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership in Health and Social Care
- You will have a desire to undertake a specialised development pathway, supported by KYN, into a Home Management role
- You will have the ability to work under pressure, flexibly and consistently
- You will be a compassionate, empathetic, kind, and caring individual
- You will have good financial understanding and a proven ability to consistently follow processes and controls accurately to contribute to deliver of business KPI’s
