Location: Crewkerne area
Salary : Up to £50.000 p.a. depending on experience
Working hours: Monday to Thursday, day shift - 40 hrs per week
The Role:
As Quality Manager, you will lead and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring full compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards. You will oversee internal and external audits, root cause analysis, and quality improvements, working closely with production, engineering, and leadership teams.
In addition to quality management, you will also be responsible for health and safety procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations, and promoting a safety-first culture. A key part of this role involves operating and interpreting data from a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to verify product quality.
Duties:
Quality Management & Compliance
• Develop, maintain, and improve the Integrated Management System (IMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 and support the implementation of ISO 14001.
• Lead internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory and customer standards.
• Conduct root cause analysis and corrective action planning (CAPA) to resolve quality issues.
• Oversee quality performance metrics, including non-conformances, customer complaints, and supplier quality.
• Ensure accurate product inspections and measurements, including the use of CMM for verification.
• Manage subcontract calibration and measurement services, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Provide training and support to production staff on quality best practices.
Health & Safety Leadership
• Ensure full compliance with UK health and safety regulations by conducting risk assessments and implementing preventative measures.
• Promote a safety-first culture, delivering training and guidance on health and safety best practices.
• Conduct regular safety audits, identifying and addressing workplace hazards.
• Maintain up-to-date health and safety documentation, ensuring compliance with legal and industry requirements.
Continuous Improvement & Leadership
• Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, efficiency, and waste reduction.
• Work closely with production and engineering teams to implement lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Support new product development, ensuring quality requirements are met from design to production.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a quality manager in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 quality standards, auditing, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in health and safety management, including risk assessments and UK compliance regulations.
- Hands-on experience using a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and interpreting measurement data.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Excellent leadership and communication abilities, with a track record of driving a quality-focused culture.
- Desirable qualifications: NEBOSH, IOSH, Six Sigma, or equivalent quality and safety certifications.
