Job Title: Financial Mis-selling Solicitor
Location: Altrincham (one to two days per week plus remote working)
Reports to: Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP)
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 FTE, pro-rata depending on agreed working hours
Working Hours: 30 - 37.5 hours, to be agreed (We are open to the right candidate working 4 - 5 days a week)

The Claims Guys Legal is a UK-based law firm specialising in providing legal services related to financial claims, focusing on mis-sold financial products. Our primary focus is currently helping clients recover compensation for undisclosed commission on car finance agreements.

We are known for taking a client-focused approach, offering personalised services that aim to simplify the claims process for individuals who may be unaware of their eligibility for compensation or who feel overwhelmed by the legal process.

We are a fast-moving technology-driven service that leverages that technology to streamline the claims process, offering clients online tools and support to initiate and track their claims efficiently.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a Financial Mis-selling Solicitor to support our Processing Team with the progression of matters, the handling of complex queries and the supervision of non-qualified staff.

You will also work closely with our Compliance Solicitor and COLP, in supporting the business’ adherence to SRA regulation.

Key Responsibilities:

Processing Support

• Support the management and progression of non-litigated financial mis-selling cases from inception to resolution.
• Support the review of and response to complex matters and complaints.
• Liaise with defendants and the Financial Ombudsman Service, as required to support case resolution and process development.

Supervision of Non-Qualified Staff

• Conduct regular audits of the work of non-qualified staff, ensuring that any non-compliance or risk areas are addressed swiftly.
• Assist in ensuring that the firm’s staff are aware of and adhere to internal policies.

Regulatory Compliance:

• Provide assistance, as required, to the Compliance Solicitor and the COLP in ensuring that the firm complies with SRA regulations, including the SRA Standards and Regulations, and other relevant legal frameworks.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Legal Qualification: Qualified solicitor
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in monitoring regulatory requirements and implementing policies.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to identify potential risks and suggest practical solutions to ensure compliance.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to provide clear and concise advice on compliance matters.
• Organisational Skills: Strong organisational and time management skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Desirable:

• Previous experience supervising non-qualified staff.
• Previous experience of high-volume claims work, or of running a large case load.
