Job summary
Reporting directly to the Incident Response Lead, the role of Security Incident Response Officer is to be the first point of contact for staff, engaging with them and using established processes to respond to security incidents and queries.
You will provide administration support for past and current incidents, analysing the reported data to accurately triage and, where necessary, escalate incidents and emerging threats to the correct team or stakeholder.
This is a customer facing role. You will be the face of security for The Cabinet Office, where you will provide ad hoc advice to staff for routine services and for escalating incidents further. The role also provides efficient and effective administration and assistance to the wider security team to ensure the successful mitigation of security risks. To note this is not a cyber security role.
Responsibilities
First Line Response: As the initial contact point for all Security enquiries, you will adeptly manage, categorise, and escalate issues received via the group Security inbox to ensure prompt and accurate resolutions.
Security Knowledge: Act as the central resource for diverse security-related questions, providing knowledgeable responses and guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
Training and Development: Deliver security training programs, including the Security Induction, using in-person and virtual platforms to enhance security awareness across the Cabinet Office.
Overseas Travel: Triage and approve overseas travel requests. Offer safety & security advice on international travel, focusing on safety in hostile environments and representing the organisation’s interests, ensuring well-informed and secure overseas engagements.
Unit Security Officer Network: Proactively collaborate with the Security and Resilience Team to expand and refine our Unit Security Officer network and enhance internal security measures.
Security Compliance: Ensure the departments adherence to security operations, policies, and procedures, maintaining a secure and compliant work environment.
Information and Policy: Efficiently gather, organise, and disseminate vital policies, procedures, and threat information, ensuring comprehensive communication through the Intranet site and established networks.
Security Communications: Draft and publish security minded communications to Cabinet Office staff. Including both immediate incidents and longer term security awareness campaigns
Professional Development Advocate: Promote a continuous learning and development culture, fostering an environment where skills and knowledge are constantly enhanced.
Risk Management Collaborator: Work alongside colleagues in the Security Team and external partners to identify and mitigate Physical and Personal Security risks and contribute to developing and disseminating security awareness materials.
Official Correspondence: Efficiently draft responses to Parliamentary Questions, Freedom of Information requests, and other official correspondence, representing the organisation’s position with clarity and accuracy.
