AWS DevOps Engineer

Ciphr has a new opportunity for an AWS DevOps Engineer You’ll be responsible for the completion of tasks to deliver the deployment and maintenance of software products and infrastructure for our SaaS Service. You’ll work closely with other areas in the development team including development, platform, site reliability engineers, testers and other stakeholders to ensure that the software development lifecycle is efficient and effective.

What you 'll be doing

  • Manage and take responsibility for the production and pre-production AWS environments for our AWS based products.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, and quality assurance, to ensure that development, deployment, and testing processes are streamlined, efficient, and scalable.
  • Support the creation, documentation, and implementation of DevOps processes, standards, and procedures that adhere to industry best practices and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Create and implement automated build, deployment, testing, and monitoring processes to improve software delivery speed, efficiency, and quality.
  • Support the analyse system performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations to the engineering team to drive system performance and reliability

What good looks like

  • Ensure stability, scalability and recoverability of our production AWS environment.
  • Deliver efficient and reliable software through the implementation of CI/CD pipelines and automation processes.
  • Automate processes wherever possible, reducing manual intervention, and improving efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that development, deployment, and testing processes are streamlined, efficient, and scalable, and that product requirements are clear, testable, and achievable.

And we would like you to have the following skills:

Essential

  • Extensive experience designing and managing infrastructure using AWS, including ECS, EC2, RDS, DynamoDB and SQS.
  • Understanding of disaster recovery planning.
  • Knowledge and experience to manage IaC environments via terraform.
  • Understanding and experience of DevOps toolchains, CI/CD pipelines and process automation.
  • Strong attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Desire to learn new technologies and continually improve your technical skills.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of software build processes in Python and Javascript
  • Strong SQL skills, especially Postgres.
  • Familiarity with GitHub, GitHub actions, Azure Dev Ops (ADO) and ADO Pipelines.
  • Experience in other cloud environments, especially Azure
