Senstronics Ltd is a global manufacturer and supplier of pressure sensing solutions. We supply electronic strain gauge sensors that have very linear and predictable output signals that are used in a range of essential industries requiring safety, reliability and precision.
To support our commitment to succession planning and talent management, we have an opportunity for a Graduate Electrical Design Engineer to join the Graduate Engineer Programme within the Business Development Team (BDT).
The role will provide experience and exposure to:
- Product and Process Roadmap
- New Business Opportunities (NBO’s)
- Electronics Design, Testing and Software development
Graduate Engineer Programme
The 2-year programme will provide the opportunity to contribute to the delivery of real projects, enabling the optimisation of existing skills and the development of new ones. Working alongside the supply chain, manufacturing and quality teams will present opportunities to influence innovative and continuous improvement relating to pressure transducer quality whilst increasing delivered output at lower overall cost.
Stage 1 (0 - 6 months)
- Develop comprehensive knowledge of Senstronics products, design principles, manufacturing techniques and safe design.
- Prepare drawings, information and documentation that meet relevant engineering standards to enable production of a range of transducers in line with required specification.
- Basic circuit design, layout, BOM, Gerber, ECO, prototype build and test.
Stage 2 (6 - 12 months)
- Carry out detailed electronic design and development work with the guidance of experienced engineers to meet customer requirements.
- Work within defined procedures to ensure that records and controls are maintained.
- Electronic design for legislation, customer specification and design for manufacture (DFM).
Stage 3 (12 - 18 months)
- Provide product technical resource for customers and sales teams.
- Conduct DFMEA activity.
- Teardown, prototyping, test, evaluation and reporting.
- Write .NET language software for development of tooling/ancillary equipment.
Stage 4 (18 - 24 months)
- Participate in all Electronic Engineering activities for existing and new products, processes and suppliers to support operational goals and product road-map requirements.
- Project manage a number of tasks and activities to achieve Gantt, budget and ROI objectives.
- Write embedded software for product to legislation and safety standards.
General Experience (Stage 1 - Stage 4)
- Development of core and specialised engineering skills to a world-class standard.
- Design and reverse-engineering to a high standard.
- Knowledge and understanding of supplier PCB manufacture and assembly processes.
- Knowledge associated with manufacturing processes such as calibration systems and metrology.
- Development and optimization of high-volume industrial products demonstrating a detailed understanding of the entire design and manufacturing process from customer requirements back to supplier capabilities (DFM).
- Ability to influence and lead others.
Candidate Requirements (essential):
- BSc or BEng in Electronic Design or similar.
- Driven to pursue a career in design and manufacturing engineering.
- Experience of design and modelling software such as Altium.
- Experience in programming C, assembler and 8 and 32-bit microcontrollers - Cortex M0.
- Driven to learn and conduct research to achieve results and support growth.
- Ability to plan, manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously whilst maintaining priorities.
- Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and implement change.
- Ability to work flexibly under pressure to deliver results.
- Knowledge and proficient use of a range of IT Systems.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with internal and external customers - written and verbal - and build strong working relationships.

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
