Role: Senior Aquaculture Consultant

Job Location: UK based, remote working

Key tasks and responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Proposal Preparation & Selection
- Working with MEPs Proposal Coordinator and wider team to oversee the selection and preparation of aquaculture-specific tenders and proposals as required.
- Ensuring realistic but competitive budgets are set, finalising all proposals before being sent to the client.
- Determining the most appropriate team for the task (internal and/or external).
Technical Input
- Bringing technical expertise and knowledge on innovations and new research within the aquaculture sector.
- Providing technical input to ongoing aquaculture projects (specific responsible area will be dependent on applicant background).
- Supporting wider staff’s work while also directly completing client facing consultancy work.
Project Management
- Overseeing all aspects of assigned aquaculture projects and ensuring projects are running effectively and to the high standards expected by MEP.
- Managing external sub-consultants and ensuring that projects are being delivered on time and within budget.
- Ensuring relevant due diligence is undertaken and internal processes are followed from project conception to completion.
Business Development
- Working closely with the wider team to identify and acquire new revenue streams within the aquaculture sector.
- Proactively engaging with potential clients and partners at networking events.
- Actively engaging with clients during calls and delivering presentations to new clients.

CORE COMPETENCIES
(Technical)
Technology - MEP completes most of its work through remote working using computers, and so candidates will need to be competent in the use of Microsoft-based programmes, including (but not limited to) Word and Excel.
Experienced in the use of SmartSheets and other project management software (Desirable)
Budgeting and Finance - Ability to plan project resources within a competitive financial proposal; and track and manage budgets during live projects (Essential)
Project Management - Ability to oversee, work on, and keep multiple projects on track and ensure high quality work. (Essential)
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of five (5) years’ demonstrable experience working in the aquaculture sector (Essential)
A minimum of three (3) years’ demonstrable experience working in project management within the consultancy sector (Essential)
A high level of practical understanding and theoretical knowledge of global aquaculture practices, technologies and systems. (Essential)
Familiarity with relevant tools, software, and methodologies (data collection, validation, processing, and analyses). (Essential)
Experience in commercial aspects of aquaculture (either through direct or indirect experience) would be an advantage and help with the development of MEPs current aquaculture due diligence work. (Desirable)
Experience working on projects across EMEA, APAC or LATAM. (Desirable)
QUALIFICATIONS:
A combination of Master’s in Aquaculture with demonstrable work experience (Essential)
