Direct Medics Healthcare Recruitment are seeking a compassionate and skilled Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner to join the Initial Response Service based in the North Lancashire area. This is an exciting opportunity to work for a 24/7 service which includes full or part time hours! Initial Response Service On-going accurate assessment of risk that a service-user poses to themselves or others, communication of this risk to others involved in a service-user’s care including those outside mental health services as appropriate and the effective management of risk.

The spectrum of mental health needs vary significantly; you will have the ability to offer advice and guidance for mild to moderate mental health issues and ways this can be managed and improved. Equally, you’ll have the ability respond to urgent referrals with more acute needs and higher risks in the community.

Contract is up to 3 months initially with full and part time hours available (24/7). Salary from £35,392 to £42,618 a year pro rata.

In this role, you will:

Manage the risks to self and others associated with unpredictable user groups in settings where there may be no other mental health professional support.

Ability to use your skills to triage and assess individuals with varying degrees of mental health difficulties over the phone and/or face to face in the community.

Identify community services that are most appropriate for presenting need (third sector, CMHT, HBTT, and Talking Therapies).

Act as shift lead, screening referrals and prioritising them based on your clinical judgment of risk and need.

Requirements

  • Recognised Core Mental Health Professional Qualification; Mental Health Nursing, Social Work or equivalent (e.g. OT)
  • Professional registration with NMC, or equivalent.
  • Experience of post qualification clinical work with service users experiencing a range of mental health problems
  • Experience of delivering evidence based interventions in a time-limited framework
  • Full UK Drivers License and Access to a Car
  • Right to Work in the UK
