Job Overview
This is a hands-on role in a UKAS accredited engineering SME which exports its specialised test equipment across the globe.
You will manage our well-established quality system in compliance with ISO and ASTM standards and UKAS guidance. You will also manage any internal or external quality/compliance issues that do not fall within the scope of our UKAS accreditation, including Health and Safety.
It is envisaged that this will be 4 days per week, at least initially, but this is open to discussion. We have plans to expand the scope of our accreditation, so this may increase at some point in the future.
You will have experience in the management of quality systems that comply with BS EN ISO 17025 and/or ISO 9001.
Familiarity with the principles of Measurement Uncertainty, including the calculation of Uncertainties, is an advantage but not essential and training will be provided accordingly.
Ideally you will have experience of working in calibration, but again, it is not essential. We will give full training and support where needed.
You need:
- A reasonable working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, as well as solid experience of writing quality procedures and a practical knowledge of the use of statistics within a quality environment. An operating understanding of Microsoft Access would be beneficial.
- A minimum of three to five years of Quality Management experience at a senior to managerial level.
- Experience in hosting external auditors.
- Experience of NCR management and completion.
- Experience of Maintaining comprehensive records of site and service reports.
- Experience of Health and Safety management.
- Excellent self-motivation, time management and organisation skills.
- A qualification in internal auditing.
Our current Quality Manager is retiring on health grounds; however, it is envisaged that he will perform a comprehensive handover to the new candidate and will also be available for a certain amount of time after his retirement to answer questions and give guidance if required.
